is front-yard grilling/bbq OK?
Is it a violation to occasionally use a Weber mini-grill in the front yard (gated area) of a brownstone? I've tried researching NYC fire code but can't find this subject mentioned.

So based on that link, BBQing in the front yard of a brownstone would only be illegal if the grill were closer than 10 feet to the house. Right?

only if it's within 10 ft of combustible material. This is the link you need: http://www.nyc.gov/html/fdny/html/rcny_legal/rcny_sect_24_04.shtml

Regardless of the legality, it looks pretty trashy to do so...

If they are illegal, most of the people in my neighborhood are in deep trouble. Almost everyone at one time or another has bbq'ed in their front yards, especially at block parties.
