Seeking lean, mean contractor

Just got plans approved for a big basement job in my Windsor Terrace frame house. That was "easy". Now for the hard part: finding a cost-conscious contractor. The job involves digging out 18 inches of dirt and rock, laying new floor slab, complete build out of space to become a nice, rentable "garden apartment." Recommendations are welcome. We just completed similar job on our brownstone.
And we did not fire our contractor.
And we came exactly within proposal price.

Our priorities were: licensed and insured ( we filed with DOB), professionally, correctly and reasonably well done job on the stuff that regular handyman can not do: I refer mostly to structural stuff, waterproofing and big scale finishing: new walls, new stairs, all doors, windows. Good cooperation with an architect, with a plumber ( we wanted to use our own plumber and will be using him again for any plumbing project in our house).

We did not sweat a small finishin stuff: they fogot a couple of mouldings, we choose the cheapest doors when it was not required to have a metal door ( we will replace interior doors with nicer stuff later, when we have money).

We let them go and gave them a final payment after our architect checked everything in order to make sure that we will pass an inspection for a Cof O ( that will happen later this year, we still have to do some other stuff arond the house).

We were pleased with their work schedule: you could check your clock on when they come, have lunch, go home every day.

Of course where were some glitches like they disconnected our door bells maybe 3 times, sometimes they turned off boiler by mistaake, but I consider this just unavoidable.

When we had a questions about some structural stuff that we believed should be done differently, they always did whet architect told them even if initially they were going to do this their way (BTW, I asked questions on this Forum, and it seems that opinions were splited on what is the right way to do certain things, so, we just followed our architect).
They had to redo a couple of things and they did this fast and there were no additional charges.

So, all in all we are very pleased, came withing budget and money were reasonable.
Also, I opened my basement to two couples who read this Forum and they probably could prove that I am a homeowner and a client, not a contractor himself.
Company name is First Construction Zone, phone numbers are 917-501-7252, 646-533-7097.
Also, I do not know if all of their foremen and crews are the same from the prospective of schedule, work ethics, etc.
The foreman who worked on our basement was Ljubomir. He is rather very insistent on his opinions but kept close to military discipline with his crew.
