Ivy Removal

Anyone know of someone who removes ivy? I live in a 4 story brownstone with one side completely covered with ivy from top to bottom. A recent building inspection found that the ivy is causing damage. Any help would be much appreciated.

If you cut the ivy near the base and kill it on the ground (round up or some other herbicide), it will die on the side of the building and getting it down won't be such a big deal. It becomes a cleaning job; you might need to get someone who can put up a scaffold though to do it. Good luck.

Oh, for god's sake, don't Roundup it. Just pull it off the building, let it charmingly grow up the building again over the next 5 years, and pull it off again. It's easy.

Original poster here: This is not a small job, we're talking about 4 stories of ivy unchecked for years on a 20' by 45' brownstone. The ivy completely covers one side of the building and half of the front and the back. This is going to take a team of workers to take care of, most likely with ropes and pulleys. I am looking for the names and phone numbers of gardeners, contractors, roofers, handymen, ANYONE who has experience with a job like this or has the equipment to take care of it.

Is it Boston Ivy or Englis Ivy? Boston Ivy is just on w/ sticky pads, and pulls off easily. anyone w/ a scaffold can do it. English Ivy holds on w/ roots, and is a much bigger job.

The Ivy must be English, it has rooted into the building. I am fully aware that we will need some repairs done to the exterior after removing the ivy, so please hold those comments. Right now, I am DESPERATELY looking for someone who can remove the ivy. Names, numbers, email, would be appreciated.
