House Inspector

Hi,
I am buying a house and was wondering if anyone knows a good house inspector to recommend. Thanks a lot.

Joe Pasaturo from AVT Enterprises. He is well known in Brownstone Brooklyn, very thorough and excellent. He's listed.

Heimer Engineering, P.C. 631-858-5500. It'll run you about $1k, but my real estate attorney said he was blown away by the detail of the report -- the most detailed he'd ever seen.

The Ubell's, of course. Al & Larry are at Accurate Building, Inc.

I've written this elsewhere, but avoid Heimer. My attorney thought their report was a joke. 90 pages but maybe 6 or 7 were specifically about our house. We were not allowed to talk to the inspector on the walk through which was very frustrating. And it wasn't just our particular inspector - it's company policy. They did give us a free 6" ruler though - that was nice.

We just had Matthew Barnett from Accurate Building Inpsectors do the inspection on the brownstone we're buying. We were very happy with him. He's thorough, knowledgeable, and patient with the many questions we had.

The price was commensurate with all the rest. Not the lowest, not the highest.
