Hallway Rug
Can anyone recommend a place to buy a hallway rug/runner for the traditional long Park Slope apartment hallway? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I have had very good luck with Better Carpet Warehouse on Atlantic. near Hoyt and Bond. Wayne and Edwin have been very helpful and prices are good too.

Persian runners are pricey and usually not that long. Kilims move around too much. What we did was go to Atlantic Carpet with measurements, pick out some carpet, and have them cut and assemble it to size and finish the edges. Which was more reasonable than a Persian carpet, and more practical. Plus the color was more subtle of course. We also did this to make area rugs. Just picked out wall-to-wall carpet and have it cut and finished to size we wanted.

Yes exactly, that's it, it's Better Carpet Warehouse on Atlantic. Not Atlantic Carpet. Wayne is awesome.
Also they have the sound absorbing pad to put under the rugs and it works great.

Try IKEA or Crate and Barrel. They have some. ABC Carpet is having their warehouse sale this weekend also in the Bronx. Try there. We had a similar dillema, though our hallway is not quite as long as yours I'm sure. We found temporary solutions with two runners from IKEA (they aren't high quality, but they work until we find something better).

We used carpet tiles from FLOR (www.florcatalog.com) to create a long runner for our apt. You can get very creative with them and it is relatively cheap.
