Air ventilation solution for odors
I own a mixed use bldg. and live above the storefront, currently a hair salon. At times, hairspray and 'perm' chemical odors can be overwhelming in my apt. upstairs. The store does not have windows, just front and back doors and two wall mounted A/C's in the rear. I want to install an exhaust fan that's vented to a side alley, to eliminate the smells and possible bad health effects.
What types of exhaust ventilation options are available & any guesses on the cost for a 900 sq. ft. open space with a drop ceiling. I would appreciate recommendations for someone who can spec. & install the right equipment.

not sure if you would be subject to special regulation due to the Volitale Organic Compound nature of your odors.
from http://www.nyc.gov/html/dep/html/smartbiz.html
"It is prohibited to cause emissions of air contaminants or odors potentially detrimental to a person’s health or comfort."
so you might need to actually clean the air, not just vent it
