Garfield Place Kitchen/Bath

Has anyone used the Kitchen/Bath place at the corner of Garfield and 5th Avenue? They have changed names several times, but I am not sure if ownership has changed.

I have heard and read many, many horror stories about them. So many people on the Park Slope Parents Yahoo group had absolutely horrific experiences with them. Be really careful.

Isn't the internet wonderful that we can share this kind of info - keeps the sketchy businesses from victimizing other people.

Try Park Slope Kitchen Gallery on Prospect Avenue (near 5th ave) in South Slope. Kenya or Bob. We used them. They don't have in-house installation (or a website, and information doesn't have their number!) so you have to get your own installer separately, but they give the best prices for cabinets and are very nice people. They carry Plain & Fancy, Medallion and a couple others. 233 Prospect Ave at 5th Ave 718.832.0002

This board has very negative comments on Garfield. Do a search and you will find them.

The man we talked to at Garfield Kitchen & Bath was so unpleasant and unwelcoming, we chose to go elsewhere simply based on his attitude. Big turnoff. Later on I read all the negative posts on Forum about the place, and many others had the same experience walking in there. We happend to be serious about installing a new kitchen, but even if we weren't, they should welcome people gladly. One would think a business owner would be smart enough to know plenty of business begins with someone simply walking in off the street, curious about a place. Hello. If that first impression is bad, that person will not come back later on. I also learned later that Garfield charges a few thousand dollars more to order the same cabinet lines, as other kitchen places. So then I was extra glad I didn't go with them.

Avoid "Garfield" "Brooklyn" or whatever they're calling themselves this week. I never got straight answers from them. people I know who used them got: 1: wrong cabinets delivered (another 6 wks for the right ones to arrive); 2: wrong sized granit slab; 3: sink placed far from plumbing lines. Park Slope Kitchen Gallery was also rude, lost my paperwork (high turnover of employees, it seems). I got great service & price from Gold & Reiss in Bay Ridge, ask for Thea. You will have to find your own contractor to install, however.

Just recently experienced the horror and crap at Brooklyn Kitchen and Baths, formerly Garfield Kitchen and Baths. The rude guy bought out the other partner and now owns it all. He will say or do anything to get your money. He will make guilt producing martyred phone calls and pressure you. I had looked for something on line about them and for some reason didn't see anything. I decided not to do business with him based on my gut reaction. Now that I've seen all the comments... I am so happy I didn't give him a penny.
