Fences?

My 1925 house in Bay Ridge needs a fence of some description around its small garden. Three queries for you kind people - recommendations of aesthetically pleasing fences, a reputable merchant for said fence, and a reliable installer for reasonable fees. I was hoping to find a style or design that is in sympathy with a 1920's house. I find most fences styles to be twee or garish (those polished chrome jobs? what's up with that?). Anyway, your thoughts and recommendations are most appreciated.

It will take several years but English Ivy is the best fencing material around. It is an evergreen and will grow very think even in shaded areas to give you privacy. Whatever fence you get, I would plant this on it.

I've seen some wonderful wood fences in Brooklyn Heights. If you see something you like, drop a note in the owners box.

Good Luck.
