If you have a multi family or old law tenement you do need a fresh air intake for your masonry boiler room.

There is a calculation regarding the square inches, you can ball park by going by the size of the outgoing flue. For instance 7" stove pipe is pie are squared or 3.14X7 or 22" sq inches. So you have to install a duct 4"X6" or any equivelant. This is quite small, and is fabricated by a tinsmith. it needs an outlet to the outside. Is the boiler room near the front or rear of the house?

easiest passage is through an existing opening such as cellar hatch. If you have a iron cellar hatch, an ironshop fabricates a small vent with hood to keep rain out. I had one made and installed by Tony at A&J Iron for $200.00. Because the boiler room was in the rear and contained the cellar hatch, no duct work was necessary. The duct is only if you need to traverse through the regular basement to get to the outside. Call Tony, he is across from Monte's Rest, you can use my name, Bruce

the boiler room is in the rear and there is an extension to the end of the lot so my only choice is to go to the front. i have not been getting call backs which i think is weird don't they want to make some money.

thanks for the reply .
