Who waterproofed your basement?
I am having a problem with water in my basement. It's coming through in 3 different spots and the time has come for me to deal with it rather than just pretend it'sd not happening. After a search of the archives it seems that some people have suggested vulcan or metro. i'm having trouble getting in touch with a live person at either place.
Did anyone use any other companies and were you satisfied with the work?
Thanks!

We used a company called Abecon...not recommended based on our experience. They were a subcontractor of our Landscaper...we waterproofed our whole foundation before we landscaped. Huge undertaking.
We used Metro for a new roof...Hassan was great. I'm thinking about using him now to waterproof the front of our house...i just called him about an hour ago on (718) 521-1435 to schedule an appointment for an estimate and got him.

I highly recommend you do research on your own about methods of preventing water from getting in your basement and then bid out those type of projects you are interested in doing. start with the most obvious problems and then move on to the others, expecting to do the cheapest jobs first to see if they work. water can be mysterious. So it's safer to just do the retarding of it by the books and then get bids rather than expect a contractor to come in and save the day by doing everything at once; ie: you can repair leaders and drain lines off roof, in rear yard, regrade landscaping the right way from your home, tear up concrete and install a proper vapor barrier, install drainlines in your basement floor, or install cutouts and sump pumps that are hooked up all the time, or to be hooked up when necessary. repour your cement floor, remembering to install those cracks you see in the sidewalk which are really there for a reason and the list goes on and on. good luck.

Dear Anonymous at 9:43.
This is Breukelyn here...I've been a poster on Brownstoner for over a year, you can search all the listings and see that I've recommended and panned a number of contractors and services over that year. I used Metro Waterproofing for our roof and skylight. I think they did a great job. If you look through the other times i've recommended Metro, it was with some qualification.
So, Anonymous at 9;43...you may know Metro "very well" but you don't know me or my previous postings at all. Do your homework next time. So, to answer your question...I dont' think most people on this site are idiots, but now and again there is the occasional poster, like yourself, that proves me wrong.
