You'd be happy if you call CHRIS at Flatbush Hardware Company, 265 Flatbush, Brooklyn, NY, 718-857-8688. I saw him recommended on some Prospect heights site. He is a locksmith and so was his dad, same hardware shop. i called to ask him how much it would be to change the cylinders in all our locks. He was nice as anything, gave me excellent prices, and came over within the hour and installed them. No joke. My head was nearly spinning with how easy and reasonable and pleasant the whole thing was. I will never use another locksmith in Brooklyn if I can help it.

Please, Anon, they offered me a wide range of choices in many price ranges, and Chris did the work expertly and quickly.

I have not yet used them but they are stopping by for a consultation. They sound knowledgeable, the name is ABCO Lock and Door, 718-771-9500.

I just purchased Mul-T-Locks for my house. Better than Medco. The lock cannot be picked - would need to destroy the lock to open it.
Fair warning: Not an inexpensive lock.

My 14-year old son just showed me how to pick the Medeco lock on our front door after seeing the method on the internet. He practiced for a bout 20 minutes and then was able to do it. Scary. According to him, all notched key locks are vulnerable and easy to pick. I'm glad we have a big dog.

I you are still reading this thread, stay away from All SEcurity. They are horrible. Roger, the owner, is a manaic which is not the problem he is a grossly disorganized maniac. He will not only charge you double what you can get elsewhere, but will destroy your weekends. When I bought my brownstone, I paid for various locks, lockboxes and PO Box installments and spent an ENTIRE MONTH of Saturdays waiting for him before he got his clown show together to finish the job.

I would liek to recommend Manny from ABCO Locksmith (718-771-9500). He was honest and specifically explained what I needed and what I could do without. He suggested chnaging the cylinder on some doors and new locks. He even fixed some loose door knobs for free.
