Bay Ridge Windows
I wanted to hear some feedback on what people who have used Bay Ridge Windows think of them? Specifically if they did a nice job, installed the windows well, worked in a professional manner, cleaned up after themselves? It seems I have heard generally positive feedback about them but I wanted to double check before moving forward. Thanks so much!

I have not used Bay Ridge Windows but have used LWP on 4th ave in Brooklyn. LWP was fine.

Bay Ridge Windows is the BEST!!! THey just put in 12 windows for us a couple weeks ago. Customer service people are knowledgable and responsive. Foreman for installers, Bill, is agreeable and helpful, and the guys who put in the windows were fabulous. They were great at their job, considerate, friendly, neat, and low-maintenance. We're had a lot of renos, and my almost-3-yr-old has been freaking out at all the guys in the apt doing all kinds of things. The windows were going in on her very first day of preschool. Terrible timing. I asked the guys to wait outside for a few min, till we left before starting the job (horribly embarrassing, but my kid has been having nightmares about men in her room). They were kind and sweet about it. She even said to them, "You're not going in my house, are you?" THey assured her calmly and sunnily that they were not. They were sweethearts. They used a different trim around the windows at my request, and you have NEVER seen such a whizz with a caulk gun till you've seen these guys. use them! You'll be delighted.

I had Bay Ridge do all the windows and several doors in my brownstone. They were both courteous and professional until one of the doors developed a crack. They had the door manufacture send a rep to view the door at which point the door rep said that his company would inform Bay Ridge Windows as to the status of replacing the door. Needless to say, after multiple phone calls to Bay Ridge Windows, in which they have stated that the manufacture is not returning their calls, I have yet to hear anything! They have stated that I should contact the door manufacturer and not them. So basically, they're washing their hands of any problem. I guess since I don't have any more windows to replace they don't care about maintaining a professional business relationship.

Also used LWP and they did a fine job at a reasonable cost. The windows do seem to take forever to come in but I think thats the nature of these things.

I was very pleased with Bay Ridge Windows. They came and measured twice and installed with no problems. The windows are coming up on a year old and there have been no complaints. Plus, Eileen there was a saint as I switched my order around. The only complaint I had was that I ordered in early Dec. and was expecting delivery before year-end but I was never informed that they were off schedule and we went into the week after Christmas and they were closed, so I couldn't follow up until the New Year. Ultimately, though, that worked out, because I spread the cost over two tax years.

I am the original poster, thanks for the feedback, would love to hear more. In regards to the cracked door frame I would push the manufacturer hard to make them replace the defective merchandise.

I'm anon 11:36. Actually it was the door that developed the crack not the frame. I agree that I'm probably going to have to bypass Bay Ridge and push the manufacturer but then why did I need Bay Ridge in the first place. I went to them to purchase the door. If they're the middleman then they should take some responsibility because they're interfacing with the customer. At least they could be honest and say you're on your own here's the manufacturers number instead of the bs that their manufacturer is not returning their calls. Here's the first line on their website "Bay Ridge Windows & Doors' ultimate goal is to provide excellent customer service, giving our customers personal service. We are proud of the reputation we have earned by putting the customer first in every aspect of our business. " Somehow I don't think they're liiving up to this!

I would try Modern Way windows on 3rd ave and St. marks..They sell wood Bonneville windows from Canada. Very good quality but much less than Bay Ridge Windows. Very happy with them after 6 months. Their installers are good too.

We used Bay Ridge Windows and they were generally reliable in terms of delivering on time, getting me drawings for the Landmarks Commission, and installing. However, after they left, I noticed that one of their installers used drywall screws to install the framing for the windows. When I called to complain, I was told to use wood filler to cover those giant black screw heads. I was very unhappy about that answer. Also, when I was getting an estimate, I emphasized that whatever and however the windows were installed, I wanted to be able to use my freshly stripped pocket shutters. I was assured that would not be a problem. However, the moldings that the installers used were not cut precisely enough so that my pocket shutters will now not open all the way. When I called to complain about that, I was told that my husband could easily use a planer to make the moldings even so that the shutters could open all the way. Again, a very unsatisfactory answer. If you go with Bay Ridge Windows, I would inspect their work very carefully before letting them go. My general contractor who was on site (because my husband and I work full time), did not notice these flaws - it really wasn't his job anyway.

Good for replacement windows but overpriced for specialty windows. Good workmanship and fast. Bill is friendly.

We used them for two doors and six windows. They were the best estimate we received (by a lot), the others we solicited were LwP and park slope glass (previous owners.
In the end it was fine. The doors were a little slow coming in and i had to keep calling to find out if they'd arrived...i thought they would call me when they came in, but, alas, i had to chase them down.
Also, on the doors some of the hardware was not what we asked for so we had to have that replaced.
But in the end, i would use them again. As far as home renovation projects have gone, working with them was the easiest and most professional situation we've dealt with yet.
