Roach infestation, help with exterminators and cost?
Recently moved into an apartment in the slope (4th floor walkup) and have recently seen two huge American cockroaches. They've been about 1.5" long with the ability to fly. The landlord up to now is refusing to get an exterminator insinuating that we've brought the roaches in with us in our mattress. Regardless, we'd like to hire an exterminator to take care of the problem as opposed to being traumatized again. Can people suggest some good exterminators in the Slope? Also, on average, how much do they cost or how is their pay determined?

We had an infestation after a problem apartment building on my block was closed down. Roaches everywhere, including inside the dishwasher after the dishes were "clean." My wife is get-up-on-the-furniture-afraid of any bug, so it was a horrific experience for her.
I did my own extermination with boric acid. It's cheap, commonly available, and not harmful to people or pets. Great stuff. Works for roaches, ants, and other unwanted visitors. Do a Google search. I killed all the roaches we had and never saw another one.

www.metropest.com
I saw 1 roach about 3 years ago and freaked out. Metropest now comes every other month and they use gel and spray on our 3 floors, the tenants unit and the basement. They charge us $54.19 per visit. I havent seen one since!
They are very professional! I highly recommend them!
