finding apartment
I would appreciate some suggestions for finding an apartment in Brooklyn - We are relocating and have never been there - I noticed that there are no brokers for buyers, but are there companies that will help with finding an apartment? If so could I get some recommendations. From the internet research I have done I think Park Slope is where we will look. It's fairly overwhelming - My husband will be working at MetroTech Center Is it possible to find furnished? Thanks - I've really enjoyed the website -

Craigslist.com is a great resource for apartments, and furnishings once it comes to that. I am purchasing a brownstone in Park Slope and will rent the top floor apt beginning around September for approximately $1900/month. It is a floor thru 1 bedroom with a skylight, wood floors and exposed brick. Nicely renovated, but not a lot of original detail. It is on 6th st & 6th ave. Let me know if you have any interest. teepeeteee@yahoo.com

I would try Craigslist, the New York Times listings, and the Village Voice. You can access them all online.

This website has many links to brokers that list apartments in Brooklyn. Right there on the left where it says LINKS

Although one thing to bear in mind if you haven't rented in NYC before... many realtors charge 15% of the annual rent (approx. 2 months worth) as their fee which is in addition to any first month / last month / deposit they may or may not charge. If this matters to you, you can search only no-fee apartments in Craigslist.
