Changing French Door Glass
I have french doors with clear glass windows which I'd like to replace with stained or frosted glass. Does anyone know who might do something like this? would it be cheaper to just buy new french doors or replace the glass.

If your doors are special, say hardwood & not painted I would keep them & replace the glass. It would take a good chunk of time but worth the trouble if they're beautiful wood doors. If we are talking about basic new painted doors I would simply replace the doors with new ones with the glass you want. I have done this kind of work. I know my time may equal the price of just buying new doors. Good Luck! If you want to talk more about it. You can reach me at bottlecap@mindspring.com Rick

I'm a Red Hook base stained glass artist, if you're interested in changing the glass, I'd be happy to talk to you about it.

Depending on the design, most artists can do what you want without removing the glass from the door. Stained glass is an exception, of coarse.

If you are still checking this post, I know they make products that let you etch or "frost" glass chemically. You could look into that and see if that might be a more cost-effective solution.
