Bathroom Vent - Again - No duct?

I'm the fellow who was asking about venting his bathrooms. I found a local guy through my neighborhood builder's supply/hardware store. He'll install two fans for $125-150. I asked him about venting/ducting, and he and his boss sort of chuckled - saying that the quick and easy way to install a bathroom fan was to put it in the ceiling, and not to worry about ducting it out to the out of doors. Is this an okay solution?

The moisture vented by the unducted fan will create mold in the joists.
It won't be pretty.

Less expensive, but a bad idea. The moisture needs a place to go, otherwise it will never dry out and as Master Plvmber pointed out you'll get some real nasty mold. Venting out to an air shaft, if you have one, would work though.

This is the worst thing to do. There is no point in putting the vent there. This person should not be allowed to be in the business. Ridiculous. The vent must go to the outside.

Oh brother...I think the guys you got are being real lazy. Make them run duct to an outside air vent.

Thanks for the advice, all.
What would be a fair price for installing two exhaust fans be - including the duct work? (Two bathrooms.)

Sure its okay. If you want your bathroom to smell like poo because the smell has no where to go.
