Rolled Fences
Does anyone know where one can purchase a rolled bamboo or willow stick fence here in the city? I know I can order them online but would prefer to shop in person. Thanks!

you may try the flower market on 28th street between 6 and 7, try jimali on the north side of the block.

i bought a few rolls of rolled bamboo fencing last year from Shannon's (Florist), next to greenwood cemetary. they don't always have it, but it might be worth a call.

Smith & Hawken on Broadway in Soho. Their willow was definitely pricier than the excellent lot I got off the internet at www.bamboohabitat.com. (Check them out. Jim Shannon is a great guy!)
However, on an event-driven deadline, I had a last minute realization that my measurements were short. And, although it was very late in the season, S&H was both local and able to come to the rescue.

thanks so much for the suggestions. Has anyone had any luck cutting them down (from the 6 foot height to around 5 feet)? Is it a complete hassle or not too bad?

You can get them at both 5' and 6'sizes. No need to cut at all!

Saifee Hardware on 7th St and First Ave seems to have a large selection from which to choose including reed and bamboo fencing.

But my question is, how does this type of fencing look after the first year? It looks like it turns gray and loses its beauty. Is there a way to seal it?
