Termite Inspector
Just signed a contract on a home in Bay Ridge. Can someone suggest a termite inspector?

Hi we did our farmhouse wide plank floors ourselves - very uneven, old and painted on by previous owner. It was a VERY difficult job but worth it because they look amazing now. Incredibly messy. Truly the most physically draining job I have ever done. Especially working with the small edger which you have to use. We nick named it "little bastard". With the old floors you just have to be really careful not to dig in hard when there is a slope or slant.Start evenly and don't let the machine go out of control. Our board were wide enough so we could go board by board so that kept us relatively even. Buy more paper than you think you will need - most places let you return unused paper. We rented from the tool rental place on Fort Hamilton. After all the hard work - we were sore for days. I can see why people charge thousands of dollars for a good job done and I can also see how someone who doesn't know what they are doing - or care - can mess it up real easily. If its your own house you're more likely to do a good job.

We used Ed at Empire Pest- 718-237-0989 to inspect our brownstone in crown heights. He charged $75 for non-HUD inspection and $100 for HUD inspection. Good news is though, he did not find termites. I feel as though they always find termites cause few owners know how to tell. I thought the guy was honest.
