Looking for Reputable Cleaning Service
I own a 3 story brownstone + finished basement in Bedford-Stuyvesant. I am looking for someone to do a complete and extensive cleaning of my home after the renovation work is completed this week (e.g., cleaning after the contractors/painters/floor restorers leave for dust, sheet rock residue, etc.)
Can anyone recommend a reputable cleaning service? Also, I would prefer one that does not require the owner to be present in the house while they are working.
Thank you in advance.

I am happy to recommend my handyman for this kind of work - and other people on this site have had good experiences with him. He is completely honest and has a great team. Joe McNair: 646-220-2220.

He doesn't post for himself - I do, anon 6:25. Call me 917-459-2930. He's just done a lot of good work for me and is trying to get more clients. I read the site everyday so I don't mind giving out his number when people are looking for the kind of work he does. Nothing fishy going on, Brownstoner, but I can let up if it's bothering people for some reason.

i talked with Joe and he quoted me a price of $300.(minimum) a day (per man) for very basic work....caulking and painting around sheetrock i had installed around a super tiny (50 sq.ft) box.
i think these are not handy man prices. i found someone else to do it in four hours for $125. and he did a great job. really great job.

300 a day for handyman work. This is above market prices for sure.

Hello Anonymous 9:23,
As I mentioned, I am happy to speak with anyone who thinks it is "fishy" that I have recommended Joe for several requests for handyman/painting/rubbish removal types of work - as if it were impossible for one person to handle such a "wide" variety of skilled labor. Unlike the anon posters, I've posted my email address and phone number.
FYI, I moved into my brownstone about 6 months ago and have been living through the renovation. Perhaps some square glasses on this site can afford to live somewhere else and hire a GC during reno, but I'm tapped out. So yes, I've been working with Joe for about 6 months and have found him very helpful, not just for painting and renovation, but I've also had 6 leaks. He came over in the middle of the night when an outside pipe on my deck cracked and flooded my basement, changed the pipe and pumped out the water.
I am finding it interesting how suspicious and nasty anonymous posters can be for no particularly good reason - certainly without bothering to call me. I don't know what he charges other people and don't get into the details of his clients, but I know that the work he's done for me has been good and fairly priced and I appreciate his responsiveness. What a turn-off that other people find that suspicious - and frankly your anonymous comment seems like a cheap shot. I was just trying to help him out, but apparently there are too many haters on this site for that.
I have also recommended other people on this site, including my excellent insurance broker, who called me to tell me how appreciative he was of the business. In fact, I thought that's what the forum was for. So what, exactly, do you find "very, very fishy"???
As Brownstoner noted today, the commentary on this site can get nasty quite quickly - I hope this site doesn't get undermined by that.
