I would appreciate any suggestions for vendors of carpeting. I am interested in simply having a carpet-runner installed on my stairway in brownstone, only on the stairway going from parlor to garden floor.

These decorative grilles normally add an element of character and charm to a house and I would keep them. But, I would get them sandblasted and refinished in your finish of choice. David
