Old Tin Ceiling Available

We have a tin ground floor ceiling that is a little battered, has holes and looks like to was put together from scraps. The plan is to remove it (and the sheetrock beneath it, and the lathe under it all to expose the beams and then repair the floor above, do some electrical work and then decide how to finally finish it.

Does anyone have any uses for this kind of tin ceiling (it has intact in places and has relatively good patches)? Would the salvage yards or individual homeowners have an interest?

I've seen tin ceiling tiles used to decorate various objects by, among others, Good Old Things (see linke below) to see if they have any use for it.

My experience is...
1) you are going to have a tough time getting a lot of this tin off with out furthering butchering it
2) there are plenty of places that sell new tin ceilings, some of which is indistinguishable from the old.

So my advice is not to waste your time trying to salvage it.

We need to patch our tin ceiling in a couple of places. Could we have some scrap if it matches? We exposed the beams in the room next to it (garde also)and it looks beautiful if you'd like to see. We are in Bed Stuy. arifliakos@hotmail.com

You are more than welcome to have the scraps. I will also e-mail you separately.

I've been looking for a scrap of an old pressed-tin ceiling for an art project. If there is any left over, may I have a small piece? I'm in Park Slope. kelli@kellianderson.com
