Tiles and Shower Position

I am a great fan of small colored tile, and the battle with wife has begun on which looks better, opaque (ceramic) tile or the Italian GLASS tile. Does anyone have a view?

More complex question: the previous owner did a thoughtless renovation, such that the bathtub/shower is flush with the bathroom wall and therefore the stream of water from the shower head hits the window and the ledge, obviously not good for the wood, etc. Can anyone smarter than me think of how to deal with this? Room isn't so big so not easy to just move the tub elsewhere - maybe put a glass wall over the window, etc.? Has anyone dealt with this?

Hi- My husband ownes and operates Handmade Frames, Inc. It is a high end frame shop, in Williamsburg. There is also a showroom in Chelsea. Handmade Frames works with a large majority of the NYC galleries and collectors. His name is Paul Baumann, if you would like to call and speak with him the #is 718-782-8364.

I had this problem, too. My solution was to buy some of flexible vinyl baseboard at Home Depot. It was just as wide as my windowsill. I then built a ski-slope of sorts out of wooden blocks and laid the baseboard on top, angled so that the water would go back into the tub. Works great, and doesn't look too bad either.

GLASS TILE REQUIRES EXTRA SKILL

Glass tile is gorgeous, but is more expensive and much harder to work with -- get someone who knows what they are doing and has done it before! My friend has a glass tiled shower that is home magazine breathtaking . . . no, not in Brooklyn, so I can't tell you who put it in, sorry. Send Brownstoner the info if you find a good one!!

This might be too obvious, but can't you get a shower head that fixes/minimizes the ledge problem?

get a marble saddle simmilar to the one under your bathroom door and cement it into the ledge. little tiles will move to much with the weather and waater mixture.
you can get a grinder pretty cheap to make any cuts.
I would use a fortified thinset.
