New front steps for a rowhouse
I need to have significant repairs done to the front stoop of my brick and frame house in Park Slope. A previous owner built a new set of steps -- unfortunately, the steps themselves are too shallow, creating a tripping hazard. (The stoop is made of brick and cement.)
Two questions: 1) Can the step be redone without removing the whole stoop and starting over? 2) Any suggestions for people to do the work?
Thanks.

What's the big deal? Is someone planning to sue you or something? I'd say put it on the back burner..

If you're in a landmarked district you may need a permit for any work you do. For superficial repairs you don't need a permit, but major reconstruction you do. The info is on the Landmarks Preservation Commission website.

100 year old brownstone steps take some getting used to . . . they are originally much steeper than modern construction.
