Lead Paint

Does anyone have experience eliminating or containing lead paint within a brownstone?

We recently discovered that the levels in our home were too high.

Are there any solutions to resolving the presence of lead without completely stripping all of the moldings and doors?

Thanks.

I went through this in my old apartment. I had to repaint and since I had rugs, rent a HEPA vacum cleaner. I got most of my information from the Department of Health. I was told stripping walls, etc would create more lead throughout the home. If you have children, send them away for the weekend when you undertake this project. If I am not mistaken there is also a special paint primer that you can get at Home Dept, Lowes, etc. to put over lead paint. Good luck and if all else fails call 311.
