Landmark Windows Replacement

Has anyone replaced their windows on a landmark block? I've noticed Marvins are a popular choice. Would accept any and all adviced.

thanks

we got estimates from marvin and they were ridiculous - better to look at Park Slope Glass, Air-flo (tardy), Millwork-specialties. depending on the glass, whether it's frame and sash or just sash, wood, etc...you can either spend about $1000 per window or 3-5000 with a place like marvin...go local if you can...

went down the road with Park Slope glass. I didn't think they were great

Park Slope glass visited my site but never sent a proposal, despite repeated calls. I ended up using Hights Woodworking on 3rd Ave. They seem to have a good relationship with Landmarks and the approvals were timely.
The cost is directly related to the number panes per window (divided light).

I would never again use Park Slope Glass Service! They just screwed up another job for me. They are the pits. Stay away!

We replaced all our windows (Clinton Hill historic district) with Marvin in the back and custom in the front because the sizes weren't standard. I can't recommend our custom guy because he took over two years to do the job. For the back, I got at least a half a dozen quotes for Marvin and Pella windows (recommendations and phone book alike) and we went with EZ Tilt windows (Bill Jacobs) who did Marvin, primarily for price. We did need landmarks approval for the back (we seem to be the only people in Bklyn to do so) and Bill was pretty flexible with the process. I found out later that we probably paid too much for hinges and door handles, but overall we were pleased. Park Slope Glass was out of the ball park with their estimate . . . prohibitively expensive!
