Engineer recommendation
Can anyone recommend an engineer for building inspection prior to purchase? I'm in contract on a 19th C Brooklyn townhouse, and need a professional to check all mechanicals and structural soundness. Thanks for any suggestions.

I've used Alex Papp, who's very professional and thorough. http://www.papphomeinspection.com/

We used Dennis from Olympian
www.olympiancares.com
718-833-1252
It took him almost 5 hours for 4 story brownstone.
He checked everything. All problem areas that he said were suspicious ( house is in general in a very good condition considering its age) were proved to be problems. But at least we knew about them.
Also, it helped us to knock price down even in this market and even for a house in prime area and in a relatively good shape.

if you listen to wnyc then you know the "guru's of how-to" - Al and Larry Ubel and their company Accurate Building Inspectors.
