Landmark Window Conformance and Providers

We have a couple of questions in regard to replacing our landmark windows:
1) If we are keeping the existing wooden window frame, is landmarks likely to approve aluminum double-hung replacement sashes?
2) What brands of windows would people recommend?
3) Recommendations for window installers?
