Great person for Backsplash

My wife and I just had our kitchen backsplash done. We used a gentleman named Victor Williams (recommended to me by the people at A&K Tile in Park Slope which just closed). He was professional and reasonably priced and did a GREAT job. Even did some other things for me no charge and came back 2 days later to make sure it all still looked good and added a sealer.

His information is as follows:

Feel free to tell him Matt sent you. I had never met Victor before this, and have no affiliation with him, It’s just rare you get good service these days so I have to share.

feel free to email me at mattkamin@gmail.com

Subway Tiles – What Brand?

Hi,

Among other things, I am renovating a bathroom. I am going to install subway tiles on the wall. What is a good brand? I have read through the forums and found some complaints about the subway tiles from Daltiles. I thought they were good, no? Can someone recommend a great brand?

DALTILE QUALITY ISSUES

Anyone having problem with glazing? I have tiles with little or no glazing and others with actual drips from clogged spray nozzles that are actually fired into tile. The tiles with little or no glaze were inspected by a Daltile rep and he told me they were within company specs. Today we opened 10 cases and 50 tiles are not fit for use.
The extra expense from is is becoming outrageous.

Tile Repair

Our bathroom tile has been sinking in in a foot by foot area. It seems the sub-floor cement needs repair. I am looking for one company/person who can repair both the sub-floor and put in new tile in that area (it is the typical black and white tile floor). I am not able to pull up the entire floor but rather just repair that area. I see recommendations on here for people who do whole bathrooms but not just repairs. Also, someone who is reasonably priced.

Thanks!

Shower Tile/Wall Repair Recommendation

Hello Brownstoners,

I was wondering if anyone could make a recommendation on someone who can do some repairs to our shower. Water got behind the tile which caused some damage to the wall, so the tiles will need to be taken off, cleaned and the wall repaired and the tiles put back on.

Thanks for your assistance.

A & K Tile

We ordered some tile from them weeks ago and they’ve been closed and aren’t answering their phones for the past 5 days. Anyone know what’s going on?

Where to Buy the Bathroom Tiles?

I am looking for one stop source where I can purchase all the tiles for our renovation.

We will be doing a major renovation of a townhouse, involving five bathrooms and two kitchens. With this numbers, it makes a lot of sense to look for the best deals. The expenses are getting a little out of control.

I do not mind going to New Jersey, Queens, Long Island… Anywhere in a reasonable driving distance from NYC will be fine. The price is a major consideration because none of the stores manufacture the tiles, so the quality should be the same everywhere, depending on the tiles we choose.

Thanks for sharing the info!

Brownstone Original Tile Repair

Hi Folks,

Our coop is looking to restore our Prospect Heights building’s original floor tile details in the front vestibule. Is there anyone who knows of a tile worker who does repairs of original work?
