Pop-Up Shop Advice

Does anyone have any advice on how to set up a pop-up shop? Specifically, how to pitch the idea to a landlord. I’m looking to set one up to test out my shop in Williamsburg. Any tips or contacts that you’ve found helpful?

New on Lewis Ave?

Hey everyone,

Does anyone know anything about the new restaurant popping up in the old Brownstone Books space? I see that the gallery next door is also closing shop.

Bushwick Getting Hip?

My son-in-law wants to open a coffee place in Bushwick stating it’s going to be the new Williamsburg. I’m not sure what to think and would be happy to invest with him if it’s a good idea. Still seems a bit rough to me out there. Would be on Broadway near Madison. Any thoughts?

Stuy Heights Retail Questions

Anyone have any updates on: 1. Butternut Market; 2. the old Brownstone Books Location; 3. the old flowershop on Lewis (It had a for rent sign, which has since been taken down, and is now covered in brown paper); 4. Inside scoop on the Tin City renovations; and 5. any future development of teh storefront next to Tin City?

I’m just curious and thought I would see what the word on the street it is.

And Then There Were Seven

… espresso options within range of the Classon G, that is. Bedford Hill looks almost ready to open.

Wonder if they’ve got any Bedford Hills connections? Or any idea that they named their coffee shop after a maximum security prison?

Maybe they’re connected somehow to Project Reconnect — http://www.correctionalassociation.org/WIPP/reconnect.htm — you know, helping women leaving Bedford Hills adjust to life on the outside?

That’d be kind of nice.

Questions to Food Store or Deli Owner or Staff

I love to eat tasty and healthy foods like many people do. I can’t find things I like in my neighborhood. Therefore I want to open a food store. But I have many questions. Please email me if you are involved in food store.

Thank you

Copy Shop and Other Closures

This week Park Heights Stationers on Park Place at Flatbush closed. It wasn’t the perfect copy shop but it was my copy shop and I used it weekly during the school year. DARN! Over the last year many of the places I go to get supplies for work/life have closed. Yes, other places exist but they are a hike or a drive or a bus ride. Its not so much the distance its the TIME!
In the North Slope/Prospect Height area I’m missing the copy shop, the health food store, Dunkin’ Donuts (for the ice cream cakes), and the art supply story on 5th. I’m also missing the Union Street bus to Carroll Garden. I can deal but it means creating new routes and routines.

A Brownstone Store?

Wondering people’s thoughts on whether or not brownstone Brooklyn – specifically Bed Stuy and surrounding area – would benefit from a business that would offer a sort of brownstone lifestyle store that would be run out of our home on an appointment-only basis to keep costs down. We would offer things like decorative mouldings such as ceiling medallions, paint removal rentals, furniture refinishing, high-end re-upholstery, etc.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
