We have turned to Brownstoner a few times over the past three months as we freshened up our new apartment. We found our painter here (Jamie Grubb), and I wanted to make sure we 1) said thank you to those who recommended him and 2) recommend him to others. Jamie was great and our apartment looks fantastic. He painted our entire apartment (ceilings included) and we’ve even had him back to re-paint a bedroom (OK, I changed my mind about the color – and again, he did a great job). He was professional, extremely responsive, and takes pride in his work. Full disclosure – I am a pain in the a$s about my home – and Jamie was patient and catered to my crazy perfectionist tendencies. His contact info is 917-446-5175.

I wanted to leave a recommendation on here for Jonathan Barsness, He is currently at my townhouse for the third time in two months. He and Wesley are reasonably priced (gives a really nice detailed quote quickly), have come in at budget each time, and do a great job. He was referred to me by Three Fingers Painting when they were too busy and I needed the job done quickly. He was able to accommodate me on a tight schedule (I was 9 months pregnant). He shows up on time and finishes when he says he is going to. I feel very comfortable leaving them in the house when I am not there, which is refreshing. He is also willing to give an opinion and will easily help with color/finish selection. I would happily refer him to anyone. I need find someone to do a small exterior painting job. Think the weather is still ok to do that or will I have to wait till spring?

I have to repair my brownstone facade. We are not renovating the inside of the house, and are therefore quite concerned about dust damage to the interior. Job involves fixing old repairs and spalling stone, ~40% of surface area. What measures should I take to protect against dust and how concerned should we be about dust coming into the house and damaging stuff on the interior. Any advice from those who have gone through this with a finished interior would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Looking for a contractor to paint 40 apartment doors in our coop building. Recommendations?

Gordon Voisey is amazing. Not only does he paint rooms, he paints paintings as well. Very beautiful paintings. And because of that, he will not simply paint your apartment or house as per your instructions, but will give really good advice on color, finish and more. I couldn’t recommend him more highly.
