Shipping Antique Chairs from LA to NYC
I have some antique chairs in Los Angeles that I need moved out to NYC. Can anyone recommend a company that can handle the packing and shipping of these chairs for us? I’d hire a moving van, but there are just 3 chairs. Plus, since they are antiques I’d rather have them moved/shipped by someone who can get them across country in the same condition they’re in currently.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Furniture Movers Baltimore to Brooklyn — Small Job
We need someone to move an Eames lounge chair recliner (and ottoman), 6 dining chairs, and a sideboard from Baltimore to Brooklyn. Any recommendations would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Movers with a crane
I vintage recently moved into a modern building (3rd FL) and my 9-ft vintage leather and metal sofa didn’t make it – no freight elevator and too long to clear the stairwells. I’m wondering about brining it through the balcony doors. Has anyone had a good experience with a moving compnay brining furninture through their wondow/balcony doors?
Junk Hauler Needed
Looking for recommendations on a company/individual to haul off junk from our basement. Includes some large items (e.g., old water heater) but mostly regular household items that need discarding.
Seeking Man with Van
No need for all 7 Santini brothers. Just need “man with van” or even minivan to move 2 “flat files” from Bushwick to Flatbush. Know anybody you trust so I don’t have to take potluck on Craigslist nutters?

Great Movers?
Anyone have any awesome moving experiences in Brooklyn to share? I’m staying in the borough, and am more interested in someone reliable and helpful than cheap.
Unreasonable Moving Fee?
The two of us moved out of a 2bdr with Park Slope Movers/Moving Your Way. The old and new apartments were separated by roughly 15 minutes travel time (30 minutes with traffic). We were quoted a 6 hour move (after they arrived and could see the furniture and packed boxes). The move took 12 hours. What I would like to know is if this move is typical or atypical, and where I can complain if it is unusual.
Good:
Scheduling the move was fairly easy, and the rate of 108/hr for 4 guys and a truck was reasonable.
Bad:
The guys made a hole in my old apartment’s wall, and there were no apologies. They wouldn’t fix it till I insisted–the hole is partially filled in and they didn’t bother painting over it. There’s no way my security deposit won’t get docked for this hole. It’s at eye level.
One of the guys left during the day and was replaced by some other guy. I think this explains why it took them 2 hours to get to the new apartment.
They insisted I pay for any traffic/parking tickets they received, though I would think this would be part of the cost of doing business for a moving company. When I told them that this was news to me, they forced me to sit in their truck. If I left for a bathroom break, they harassed me till I got back in the truck.
They told me I had to pay cash when they showed up. If you’re going to get 700-1300 dollars, shouldn’t you tell people in advance that they need to pay cash?
Does it really take 12 hours to move 2 people, with 9 pcs of furniture + 6 dining chairs ( and they had to take apart 2 items,to be fair)? If you’re a family, would it take two days normally to move?
Because my husband could only take a few hours off in the morning, I had to supervise the move, and I definitely felt that they were not very female friendly.
The owner did not respond to my complaints and the movers didn’t seem to feel that it was unusual that the move took twice as long as the quote. I’m trying to get a sense of whether this experience is the norm, or if I have been very lucky with previous movers.
Divine Movers Indeed!
This has been my 4th move in the past 20 years, I’ve used Divine Moving for my last one and the team I got was amazing!
They had to pack and unpack it all for me since I’m 7.5 months pregnant…
The only thing they couldn’t do was to install my flat screen TV on the wall but they did give me a phone number of a company that charges about $90 for this service… does this sounds right?
