Authentic Arne Jacobsen Series 7 Charis

4 white authentic Arne Jacobsen Seven chairs made in Denmark by Fritz Hansen in 1969 (stamped). One has a cracked back and is included for free. The other three ($250 a piece) have some paint cracks and minor dents. The chrome legs have been updated to new normal height (the original chair had lower legs, guess people where shorter in the 60s… – original legs are still available and included as well).

I spent over $1,600 on these chairs 4 years ago but need to sell due to move. This is the real deal, not a reproduction or copy. Own a pice of authentic retro modern mid-century furniture!

Have go go – give me an offer!

Cool, vintage library card catalogs for sale

“Clean out the basement” week continues with these cool, vintage library card catalogs.
We bought a whole bunch of them for our place and only ended up incorporating a few into our decor.

Really nice warm wood color with funky pulls– all in all, really unique pieces with some character to them. Plus, really nice solid wood craftsmanship.

We used them in the office for sorting our office supplies, but have seen them used for kitchen utensil, craft supplies, tool organizer, etc. Really handy little drawers.

They come in 15 drawer sections (5 drawers across by 3 drawers tall= 15 drawers total). As you can see in photo, they are meant to be stacked and I do have a few of them for sale. Since they were meant to be stacked, sides and top are unfinished, but could be finished quite easily to match front color.

Each 15 drawer section is 32.5″ wide, 17″ deep and 13″ tall.

But here’s the best part— if you come by and like it, I’ll even deliver it to your curb for free. Or you can always swing by and grab it yourself- it’s on the ground floor with no stairs and you can back your car up inches from it. Asking $250 OBO for each 15 drawer section (5 drawers wide by 3 drawers tall). Email if interested.

Refinishing a table

The finish on my reclaimed teak dining table seems to have “softened” on one end–the part that gets the most sunlight. Now, I can’t put anything remotely damp on the table without discoloring it. It feels tacky to the touch–when I put a newspaper or magazine on it it sticks a little. Any advice on how to fix this would be appreciated.

Cheap Furniture in Brooklyn?

I’m on a small budget, and would like to buy two upholstered armchairs. There are probably cheap furniture closeout places or salvage stores around Brooklyn, but I don’t know where they are. Can anyone suggest a place to buy small armchairs? Please do not say “Ikea.” I am trying to avoid big box stores.

Horgan Beckett

I was at the Architectural Digest home show this weekend and cam across some beautiful light fixtures and furniture made by a local artisan, Gregory Horgan. In addition to the ones pictured here, he was introducing some that had an expanded metal lath look that matched the actual material used in accompanying benches and tables. It was really cool stuff. I’m hoping to use some in a small restaurant project I’ll be working on soon.

Greg recognized my name tag from my postings here, so we got to talking. He’s got a great local business producing beautiful work, so I thought this would be a great way to get his name out there. Have a look at his stuff. He could be a great resource for people in this community.

Dark Cherry Queen Footboard

We have a very nice Queen footboard for a sleigh bed that unfortunately we have to get rid of (getting a larger bed). Beautiful detail (love the sides and the feet)and very substantial. We’ve been using it as a headboard for several years.

I’m asking $200, but will consider any reasonable offer. We don’t have a car, so you’ll need to pick it up (we are on the first floor).

IKEA Closet

Hi, we have big not rectangular closet in our house. We thinking to by 92x40x22″ wardrobe boxes from IKEA and put them into the closet as shown above. The boxes will not have doors in them. I think it will look nicer, but will waste a lot of space. Did anybody have experience with this sort of setup? any advice or alternatives?

I tried HomeDepot’s ClosetMaid before, but it just does not fit well and looks ugly.

Good Fabric Stores

Hello Brooklynites–Any suggestions for good fabric places either in BK or in the fashion district? I need to pick out fabric for some custom furniture pieces. Thanks!
