Recommendation for permastone removal

Does anyone have a recommendation for exterior work. I’m looking to remove permastone and then rehab/replace brick underneath. Thanks.

I am renovating a wood framed home. I will be using Hardie plank for the exterior and am looking for a contractor for the work.

I worked with an architect on the design, but need someone who can execute well, fast and reliably.

Brick and Granite Stoop

We need to completely redo tbe stoop on our brick townhouse. It is crumbling brick covered in cracked cement. 2 different exterior people recommended brick with granite steps (brick on the mirror). They tell me the granite is not shiny and will look good, but I’m skeptical. I can only picture this look on a very different style home. We don’t want to spend the money on a brownstone stoop and they insist that any other material will need a lot of repair over the years.

Anyone have a granite step stoop that they love? Thoughts? Pictures?

Thanks!

In Need of Facade Restoration

I really need a facade restoration for my brownstone 3 family house located in Carroll Gardens. Two of my friends have had work done by Edson Usa and I wanted to know if any other person on this site has had past experience with them. I plan on calling for an estimate some time next week, so feedback is highly appreciated.

Repair of Front of Building Cornice

We live in a Park Slope coop and have what looks like a fairly standard brownstone cornice. It is either a pressed tin alloy or molded cast iron. Sections of it have been covered with a thin gauge aluminum. One of those sections blew off recently and we discovered some serious deterioration underneath. In my judgment there is not enough of the old material to reattach anything to. We are looking for some possible solutions to this situation. Any suggestions?

Cornice Advice

I have a wood frame house that does not currently have a cornice. I am working on the facade, and plan to add a cornice as well.

The house has bay windows that go almost to the top of the house. My architect renderings show the cornice straight across the top with the bay sitting just below it.

There is a house on my block with a bay that similarly goes to the top and the cornice wraps around it. However, I do like how it looks in the rendering I have.

My question is, is there a “right” way for the cornice to work with the bay window? Should it wrap around, or can it go straight across with the bay sitting below it? I understand that technically it can be done either way, looking for advice on what would look better.

Thank you!

Expert/Advice at Stripping Stucco off Facade?

So we bought a house whose facade is sheathed in stucco (synethetic stucco, or EIFS, to be exact). We really want to remove it but aren’t sure what we’ll find underneath.
1. can anyone recommend a facade person who could do this work?
2. and for anyone who has done it, any ideas of what the brick could look like? I don’t know if it was glued or propped over the brick. If was glued on, can that brick be repaired without replacing?
Grateful for any insights/advice.

Frame Houses – What’s Under the Siding?

Does anyone know what you’d find under the siding of a frame house? Why are they all covered in siding, and is it ever possible to rehabilitate the outside to some former glory??

Trim/Molding for Wood Frame House

I am working on the exterior of a wood framed home, and based on feedback here I am going to use hardiplank for the siding. Around the windows/bays I was hoping for recommendations on what to use for the trims and molding. (I will not be using siding between the bays) I’d like something that looks good and lasts a long time/doesn’t require major maintenance. Any recommendations?
