Debris Removal Recommendations?

Looking for someone to come haul off some of our initial rehab debris. We wIll have the contractor haul off the stuff they remove, but so far we have taken down lots of paneling, torn out some shelving from closets, a few hollow core doors, some old paneling that was stored in the basement, etc. Nothing worth saving. At this point I don’t see the need for a dumpster since the contractor will do that for the major plaster and stud stuff, but have quite a pile of trim pieces (mostly plain jane modern cheap stuff – nothing detailed), doors, and paneling I need hauled off – more than I would want to cut up, bundle, and put on the curb. Any recommendations?

Free Lattice

I’m in the process of replacing a rather poorly constructed fence. I have a bunch of pressure-treated wood lattice that’s up for grabs. Mostly 4×8 sheets – the edges are damaged from removal, but they are certainly good enough if you wanted to add some trellis to your existing fence or something. It’s out front and ready to go – post if you’re interested, and I’ll send the address.

Any Use for Old Wood Lath Strips? Firewood?

I took down some plaster and lath and now have 4 bags of just individual lath wood strips, no plaster on them. Any use for it? Anyone want it? My Dad has been taking it to use as firewood, but he has all he can handle. If interested, let me know, hoping for a chance to reuse/repurpose it– otherwise, to the curb it goes.

JOB:
Remove:
- garden floor : fridge, washer / dryer, stove
- 3nd floor: fridge, stove
- 4rd floor: fridge, stove

Clean-up service
- 1 floor total clean-up.
- 3 floors clean and sweep.

I’ve heard so far quotes around 500+tax for the appliance removal.

thanks!!

Legal Asbestos Disposal

I recently personally and carefully removed 160 sqft of non-friable asbestos tile from my home. It is now bagged and ready to go.

I can’t find anything online about the legal requirements for disposal. I’d like to know if I can take it to a dump myself? Or just put it on the curb?

Old posts run the gamut on this. Does anyone actually know the law or know where the dump is that I can take it?

Shed Collapse

Hi,

I have two questions I was hoping to get some help with.

We went away for the holidays and missed the big blizzard, but when we returned a car sized, aging steel shed in our backyard collapsed under the weight of the snow. The side walls are still up but the roof is caved in and the whole thing doesn’t seem very stable.

My first questions is can I get into any trouble get any kind of fine for leaving this in its current state for any extended period of time, ie. until the snow melts and it’s easier to take down? It is a private house that we recently purchased, and it’s on our property, there’s no reason for anyone but us to go back there.

And should I contact our insurance? Is this something they would cover to have safely removed? Would it change our rates?

Thanks for your input, this is new territory for us and your advice is appreciated.

Cheers.
