What is the minimum height from floor to ceiling in the garden floor apartment?

What is the minimum height from floor to ceiling in the garden floor apartment?
I’ve heard that is a minimum of 8′. What would happen if it was one inch shorter? We will need to pass the inspection of the DOB because we are getting a new C of O. We are putting radiant heat and we are losing that inch and or inch and a half. Any info will be appreciated. The photograph is just for illustration purposes. It’s not our apartment but it is a similar garden floor apartment.

Best way to apply for new windows to Landmarks?

I want to apply to Landmarks to replace the very old windows of the façade. I want to use Pella Architect Series, the profile is very elegant and matches the ones that originally were there. What is the fastest/safest way to obtain the permit? I am doing something pretty standard and using a window that has already been approved before by Landmarks. Any advise? Thanks! I am concerned that the application will take a lot of time and the windows need 5 weeks to be delivered.

Landmark Window Confusion

I am extremely confused. I do not understand why it has to be that complicated to learn the right type of window that I need for a brownstone located in a landmark area of Brooklyn. I would like an efficient window but I am not sure if I need:
–Sash Replacement
–Insert Window
–Completely New Window
I know that if I go with Marvin or Pella architect series they will probably accept it but I refuse to think that all the other brands: Hurd, Lincoln, Trimline… All the other options are not even considered, at least online. Is there any reason? They also offer wood window and some wood with aluminum clad. I assume the aluminum clad on the outside is an addition to the wood, so it has to be still considered wood. Am I the only one very, very confused? It’s an expensive decision to be made.
Any help will be very appreciate. Budged and energy efficiency it’s my concern, besides complying with the Landmark Preservation Commission requirements.

CityQuiet Windows Instead of a Replacement?

I am debating about what to do with our old windows. Right now we have storm windows and the old double hung windows. Do you think it would be better/more cost effective to add CityQuiet windows inside and leave everything we already have outside? I am trying to make the best and the most cost effective. We are in a landmark area, so fiberglass is not an option right now. LPC still has the 1970′s regulation and doesn’t really care about efficiency and common sense. Any opinions?

Triple Pane Windows in a Landmark Area

I was thinking that the argument of double pane versus triple pane windows was pretty basic, but it’s not that easy. On the surface, it would seem that triple is better. Apparently that is not necessarily so. Each type of window has strengths and weaknesses. Any experience in a landmark building with triple pane? Brand recommended? Exact type? Prices? Anybody has really installed a triple pane window and can tell the difference? On top of that, we are in a landmark area in Brooklyn, it’s a brownstone. Any help will be very appreciated. We are trying to avoid a very expensive mistake. Thank you!

Windows Manufacturers?

Any recommendation of windows manufacturers? Instead of going to the big well known and advertised Marvin, Pella… I wanted to give a chance to a local company, like the old days. By the way, it’s in a building where Landmarks approval is needed. If the company is in a driving distance from NYC wouldn’t be a problem.
