Withdrawn Plan Inspection
When I purchased my property there was an old plan in place, approved by dob for a renovation that never took place. We’ve requested the plan be withdrawn, and the dob wants to do an inspection of the property regarding the withdrawal. Is this standard? Nothing was ever built or changed.
Code Issues? Basement Door and Stairway
I have a one story brick building – residential, 1 family.
We have an open stairway to the basement at the bottom of which is a door to the basement. The bottom of the stairway is enclosed. I want to remove the door and the enclosure under the stairway. This would open up that area which is currently not useable. The boiler is out in the open in the back of the cellar. Must I have a door on the cellar and the bottom stairway enclosed for code purposes? Again this is a 1 family home.
any thoughts are appreciated.
Used Steam Radiator Sources?
Speaking of radiators – any sources for used ones – I’ve been to vaccaros (under the bridge) but no luck – this would be for a 1 pipe steam system – and on the large side – 35 EDR approx
Hip Ridge Skylight
My building has a framed opening for an 8′ x 10′ skylight that has long s been covered up. I want to put a skylight back in that opening. I’m looking for recommendations regarding companies and/or contractors who do this type of work. I need measurements to be taken and coordination of the order and installation. I want the skylight to be insulated. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Small Masonry Repair Reccs
Looking for recommendations for a mason or good handyman to patch two holes in my brick facade (from exhaust fans) and some chipped masonry – it’s a pretty straightforward small job. I’m right on the queens/brooklyn border- thanks
Experience with Low E Windows?
I was curious if anyone had any experience with Low E windows. In your experience did they make a difference in terms of heating and cooling? Did the windows feel warmer then your old windows? The windows I am considering are straigt Low E, not Low E with argon.
Thoughts?
