USPS Rules on Height of a New Mailbox
I would like to replace the old mailboxes. It would be two rows of five mailboxes.
The upper row’s keyhole would be 69 inches from the floor. Is that too high?
Anyone know the regulations regarding this?
Where Can I Find this Linoleum?
Does anyone know where I might find a linoleum in a very similar pattern and color as this? It’s about 20 years old so I doubt I could find an exact match. It consists of small irregular shapes of different sizes in various shades of beige.
The hallways of the five floors of my brownstone are covered with this linoleum, and the ground floor has some damaged areas so I want to replace that entire floor.
Are there Other Forums like Brownstoner in NYC?
for Queens, Bronx, Manhattan? I have a few friends who would be interested.
Need to Replace My Old Hot Water Tanks With Bigger Ones. Any Recs?
I have a brownstone of ten small apartments. Twelve adults. Apparently there is a lack of hot water on some weekday mornings after 7:30 am. My guess is that it’s the morning rush and the lack of hot water is due to a temporarily insufficient volume of hot water because too many people are showering at about the same time.
It’s a gas-powered two-tank system. Each tank is 42 gallons. They’re eighteen years old so due to be replaced anyway.
Looking for someone who can do a good analysis on the hot water needs of the building, make suggestions, and of course can do a good job at a reasonable price.
Can I find mailboxes to fit this space?
I want to replace the in-the-wall mailboxes for my ten-unit building. The maximum wallspace I have is 35 inches wide and 33 1/2 inches high. The mailboxes that I’ve seen advertised would take 38 inches height.
Does anyone know where I can find smaller USPS approved mailboxes?
What is the expected life of a water heating system?
I have a gas powered AO Smith two-tank hot water system that is eighteen years old in my rental brownstone. I don’t want to wait until the tanks crack and leak, making an emergency situation.
Eighteen years seems long to me. Is it due for a replacement?
Where can I buy a multi-unit mailbox?
I would like to install a new mailbox for my 10 unit building. Does anyone know where I can buy one in the Park Slope area?
What kind of contractor do I need?
The hard rain on Thursday morning caused the backyard to get flooded and water to seep into the ground floor apartment which faces the backyard. It soaked some of the tenant’s stuff and damaged the floors.
Strange thing is that it’s rained harder than that many times and this hasn’t happened. So something has changed. Maybe water flowed from the next backyard which is on higher ground. I just don’t know.
What kind of contractor should I bring in to take a look to determine the cause and do something so this doesn’t happen again?
Any recomendation?
Glass and Screen for a Security Door?
I have a backyard security door made of iron.I would like to convert it into a security/storm door by installing a removable pane of glass. Also I would like a screen to replace the glass in the warm weather. Would this be difficult and expensive? Who would do it? Would it be easier and cheaper to buy one in the store (I think they go for $200-300.) I just hate to throw out such a nice door.
