Tile for Vestibule to Match Old

I am looking for unglazed quarry tile to match the ones that have come out of our mosaic inside the vestibule….then of course will be looking for ideas how to repair/replace. We used 1 x 1 white hex tile in the bathroom reno and I dropped a few in here to see how it looks (tile is much thinner these days!) but haven’t seen this 1/2″ x 1/2″ clay (I guess) tile anywhere. Classic Tile doesn’t have it….closest they get is terra cotta glazed. I am thinking a salvage place….but local, I hope. Thanks in advance.

Carpenter to Dissemble Bed?

I have posted on the Forum earlier this week with a bit of a saga regarding a queen size box spring that won’t make it up the steps of my tight steps to top floor of Victorian. I was suggested to me on here to purchase a split box spring, which I didn’t even know existed, and is a great idea, but one is $350 incl delivery. A company to come and dissemble/reassemble the box spring is $250. Can anyone recommend a handyperson whose skills would encompass this kind of work and be willing to do this relatively small job for maybe $100? We (enough family members) are available to do the heavy lifting part (carrying it up the steps). Thanks in advance.

Follow-up on Repro Pale Tile

I am re-posting so as to add a picture…..thank you to all who responded and I wanted to say a special thanks to Kelly who suggested Lowe’s….I went this morning and found 1/ x 6″ ceramic (I think) that looks like porcelain) or actually porcelain) tile that is uncannily close to the original. For $1.28 each. I would have much rather been able to order a custom tile to replicate the old, but I did use new 3 x 6 white subway tiles, no crazing of course, so these will work just fine. At 1/6 the cost. As I am operating the the red now, it’s a big help. Thanks again

Help! Can’t get queen bed in

We moved today to a house with a very tight swing to the 3rd (attic) floor stairs where new bedroom is….the frame is now waiting on ground floor blocking the whole house until I come up with a solution. I have heard of companies that come and dissemble your bed and reassemble it; can anyone direct me? Thanks so much on advance.

Antique/Repro Border Tile

I am trying to re-create this bathroom, and Classic Tile does not carry anything like this (the pale blue tile). Does anyone have a recommendation where might? Thanks you in advance.

Problem with Mini-Windows

HI, I have been trying to post this but to no avail.
I am trying to find a source to custom create windows–double-hung or casement–for the two “sidelights” here. I have given up trying to save those mullioned panels, they are starting to crack and we need the air (but screened) up there, it’s the only window in the room. I appreciate the help, in advance.

Love cork floors, hate the color

I have finally narrowed down an agonizing floor search to cork, after feeling it installed in a kitchen (and reading about it here); my only problem is I hate the bulletin board like look to it. I have read raves from people on Brownstoner who mention colors; can anyone direct me to where, hopefully in Brooklyn or LI, I could find a better selection? I’m been to Lumber Liquidators (and a few of those floor stores on 12th St.), Lowe’s, and HD. Thanks, in advance.

Battle of the Countertops

I am working with a very tight budget for a full renovation with contractors holding very tight pursestrings (money is doled out to them from loan). We have gotten to the countertop stage……and I have wanted stone (either honed granite or Caeserstone/Silestone product) since we began. They are now suggesting I look at “Chinese granite”; from what I understand it is lower-priced granite product. Park Slope Kitchen Gallery, where I purchased cabinets, is suggesting the same, for budgetary purposes. Can anyone shed any light on this? Frankly, I do not want any Chinese-made product (within reason, I am cognisant of modern manufacturing)in my kitchen where I will be slicing and placing food on (yes I use a cutting board).
I so appreciate any of the responses, thank you.
