Noisy kitchen drainpipe

I live on the 3rd floor of a brownstone. Whenever my upstairs co-op neighbors ran their washer, the water released from the machine would back up into my sink. The drain pipe runs vertically down from their apartment to mine and then makes a turn beneath my floor to run horizontally for about 7ft before making another turn to run vertically through my downstairs neighbor’s apt to the basement. I just had a trap installed in the drain pipe under my sink to prevent the backup. While there hasn’t been a backup so far, the rush of water from the upstairs machine makes a very loud gurgling noise that sounds like it’s inches from my sink. The noise can be heard clear across the apartment. The only suggestion the plumber offered was to call a sewer guy to clean out the mainline down to the basement. Since we did that only 6 weeks ago, I can’t imagine that will solve the problem. Has anyone had a similar situation? Any suggestions to remedy it, or another plumber I might call? Thanks.
