Trouble Insuring Old Home
Hello all-
We are trying to close soon on a lovely home in Prospect Park South. The house was built in 1900 and current owners haven’t done much to it since the 60′s. We are planing a renovation that will include replacing electric and plumbing and renovating the kitchen and baths, along with some other cosmetic work.
The issue I’m running into is that because of the state of the house and our renovation plans, the insurance companies won’t give us a homeowners policy and will only give us a Builders Risk policy. BUT our mortgage agent says we need to have a homeowners policy to close.. Has anyone run into this before? I would hate for this to kill our deal since it’s such a great house… Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thank You!
Floor Plans
Hello –
I am looking for someone to make floor plans for large lovely home in Prospect Park South. We are going to be doing some renovation but aren’t moving any walls or anything so the plans can be pretty basic -ie dimensions, location of windows, radiators and outlets. Anyone have suggestions for someone who can do this inexpensively? I think this might even be a great job for an architecture student.
Thank you all!
Contractor for Ditmas Park House
Hello – I’m looking for contractor recommendations for renovation on a gorgeous Ditmas Park house. We’ve been through renovating an apartment before but never a project this large. There will be some restoration work but mostly electric, plumbing, replacing a lead water pipe, painting interior and exterior, floors, kitchen and bathrooms. We’re looking for someone who is budget conscious and wont try and steamroll us into spending more money than we’re comfortable with. Thanks SO much!
