Apt search in Brooklyn


I live in California and I would like to get an apt in Brooklyn NY.

However, i need help with understanding how to contact the owners of buildings or the Landlords. Since, i live in California, it looks as though, contacting or locating owners is almost impossible. No name listings of Landlords on the internet.

I walked around Park Slop last year but the buildings i saw did not have a point of contact.

Is there anyone that can point me in the right path.
