Front doors and type of wood i should buy

I am buying a pair of new front doors. The woodworker has offered me 3 types of wood. Sugar pine I really don’t like this one because i feel with nyc winters it will warp over time. Mahogony but these are to expensive for me. The last type is spanish cedar wood. Has anyone used this for front doors? any opinions on this wood?

Door Price

Can anyone advise me on this front door issue. I was quoted $23,000 for a pair of Sugar Pine front doors from a wood craftsman recomended on this site. To me this seems like a lot of money. Currently i have a single door with a transom on top. I was hopeing to change that to 2 full length doors with no transom. Has anyone bought new doors? what was the price? Would it be less expensive if i went with 2 doors and a transom? Has anyone bought doors from Eddie and had them look the way they intended? thanks

freezing in my apt?

I live on the top floor of a 4 story brownstone> the thermostat is on the bottom floor above the boiler and basement. The top floor where i am is freezing. It is around 8 to 10 degrees cooler on the top than the bottom floor. I have gas steam heat with radiators. Do i need to move the thermostat? my wife says to just put the thermostat higher, but i have it up to 76 and it is still only 68 on my floor. It will get to the set tempeture on the bottom floor and shut off i guess leaving us cold on the top floor.
