Thermostat WiFi


Hi all, I have to chose the thermostat, I need 4, one on each floor. Any suggestions,? Did anybody try the model with Wifi connection so you can program while you are away? Can you connect to all 4?

Radiators paint


I have some hold cast iron radiators, some with nice design, that have been tested and work well, but they need some TLC. I like to keep them the way they look now, rustic, and I don’t particularly like the Silver paint that I see on other radiators. There is any clear/transparent paint or something that I can apply to protect it and that can stand the heat? I don’t know if regular polyurethane would be a good idea…

Deck on Extension Roof


I’d like to build a deck over the roof of the 8×8 extension on the back of my brownstone in BedStuy (possibly with stairs to the garden), but I read in a previous post that “no wood within 3 foot from lot line” is aloud. Does that count for over the shack also? What about the shack itself, approved from DOB as existing on my permits, which is basically wood studs and playwood with wood siding and, like all the other extension is right on the lot line? I think the deck would be a great addition to the 1 floor kitchen, but I am not ready for the expensive ipe, Comments, suggestion?

Wood Floor


I am renovating on a budget and I need to cover the 700sqf. of existing sub floor on the open space in the basement floor, I think it’s to damaged by water leaks to be safe. It will be an artist studio, so doesn’t have to be fancy, but I don’t want to put plywood. I was thinking wide pine planks or salvage wood. Any other suggestion? where to order new planks? tongue & groove or not? where to get salvage floor?

Steam bath
