Who to Tip???


I have never tipped an electrician, plumber or locksmith and most people I know wouldn’t either. But- what about my painter- a person who submitted a bid for the job- should that person be tipped? If so how much? What about a development’s contractor doing punch list work?

Good Place to Buy Appliances Based on Price/Delivery?


Looking to buy Bosch Axxis washer/dryer combo in the coming weeks and wondered if people had preferred places to purchase? I’m moving into a walkup so I need full delivery and install services. Any recommendations would be welcome.

I’m thinking of Lowe’s because I got the standard 10% moving coupon and I can purchase a tax refund gift card which would give me a 10% bonus. The combined savings I think would be hard to beat but I wanted to see what others thought.

Paint Myself? Do it or just say no?


About to move into a 3bdr new construction condo. The walls are all white- and not a very nice white at that. The entire place needs to be painted. I’m contemplating doing it myself- between friends and family I probably have most of the gear- but is it crazy to do? I’m afraid of the costs of hiring a painter.

Anyway- and horror stories about DIY paint that would scare me straight? Or do people think its worth the cost savings?

I also want to hang wall paper on 2 walls- and I know I can’t do that myself. Since its such a small job- should I just get someone to do it all?

Any recommendations if I do hire someone? Weirdly, there are not too painters that come up in the forum- seems like everyone uses their own guy which of course they love.

Garbage Disposal and Water Filter Install


I’m looking to have a garbage disposal and reverse osmosis water filter installed. I need to have a hole cut through caesarstone for the filter’s faucet. Any recommendations for an installer? Thanks.
