Mover Recommendation
I used www.callpaultohaul.com today to move some of my daughter’s furniture from Astoria Queens to Park Slope. Paul was really prompt, (he got to her apartment before me!), polite and fast. I would highly recommend him.
Land Snails in the Garden
Something is eating up the leaves in my garden. I believe it to be land snails, as we found a few. What can I do to stop the destruction?
Hanging Paintings
We have 3/4 in\ch plaster over brick walls. They have been newly skimcoated and I want to hang paintings on them. The paintings range from 5 to 20lbs, I’m used to drywall, any ideas on what I can do?
Renovating a Bathroom
I have moved into an apartment with a tiny bathroom. Has anyone had any experience with extending the bathroom into the dumbwaiter space? If so, how expensive was it to do?
temporary housing
First let me say that this blog has been a life line for me as I prepare to return to Brooklyn after 23 years. My husband and I are in the process of selling our home, and won’t be able to get into our apartment until June. Should we have a lag time of a few monthes, can anyone suggest where I can look for a 3 month (or less) sublet? I am hopeful that we will be out by March. I have 1 small and harmless cat.
We wouldn’t need more than a 1 bedroom, or a good size studio, and furnished would be preferable.
Digging out a fireplace mantle
I am moving back to Park Slope after being away 23 years. I am moving into a floor through garden apartment which I’ve been told has the original mantle encased behind the plaster wall. Is it worth while to dig it out? Has anyone done this?
