Can anyone recommend a good source for classic NY sidewalk blue stone cut to size? I want to repave my property and need this for large walkway and thicker driveway slabs.

Condenser Dryer Recommendations?


I own an apartment with a very large kitchen. I want to install a washer/dryer, but can’t vent the dryer easily.

Can anyone recommend a good condenser dryer? Ideally, I would save space with a 2 in one unit, but I don’t know if they work as well.

Does anyone have any research/experience to share?

Compact Motion Sensor?


I want to put our exterior light in series with a motion/light sensor so that it can’t be left on overnight. Can someone recommend a compact model? (Ideally, it might hang from a soffit.) Most items I see online overkill and unsightly. Unfortunately, a smart bulb is not to spec with the fixture. Thanks.

Loose Fill Insulation as DIY?


I own a row house, so most of our walls are kept warm by our adjacent neighbors, except my son’s room. His room is adjacent to the garage. The room is too cold in the winter. I think that one wall needs to be insulated. Is that a DIY task? Is ripping out the sheet rock and putting in blankets the proper solution? Any advice would be appreciated.

metal fence patch work


Can someone recommend a local salvage yard where I may find several feet of metal fencing for a fence patch job?

The fence is nothing special. It was built in 1970. I share the fence with both neighbors. It need not match, but it should be similar.

I get the feeling that I’ll need to go with new fabrication, but I’d rather recycle if possible.

AC + sleeves needed


Has anyone investigated AC sleeves? I need to install a small one (with an AC) for a bedroom. All I can find are the huge ones.

The casement windows can’t handle units, and central air is not an option.

Any local vendors or product recommendations would be appreciated.

custom nyfd security gate needed


I want to install a security gate on the inside of a garden apartment casement window. I’d like it to be NYFD compliant with an organic (custom) design to match the decor of the garden. Has anyone out there done a similar project? Can anyone recommend a vendor or welder?
