Realtime Crime Activity Map for Brooklyn?
A major crime was committed across the street from my apt yesterday. There were vans and detectives everywhere, two of whom knocked on my door to interview me. None will say what it’s about though.
Does Brooklyn have any crime sites similar to this one in Seattle?

Basically a source where you can view geographically when 911 calls were logged and sort by the type of crime?
Prospect Heights redevelopment
I went to the Brooklyn library the other day and came across an interesting book about Prospect Heights.
It said that during the 1980s, NYC began selling groups of abandoned buildings to encourage redevelopment in Prospect Heights. It went on to say that restoration began “in the area near Prospect Place” and moved East to Washington Ave.
If that’s true, does anyone know whether this program had a name? (Or were the conversions done sporadically on a more informal level…)
Curious to know whether there’s anything similar going on now in other NYC neighborhoods…
Appraiser at my rental unit
I rent the top floor of a three-story brownstone.
My landlord lives on the second floor, and there’s another tenant on the first floor.
Today an “appraiser from Chase†came in to look at my top floor unit only.
He spent about 30 seconds total, took a few pictures of the living area and kitchen and then left.
What I found strange was that the appraiser was only interested in my floor, not the other two below me.
Is it possible that my landlord is looking to sell just the top floor of his brownstone?
What kind of conversion process, if any, would have to take place?
