Serious Cleaning Crew for Animal Odor?
Anyone have a cleaning service they can recommend which can rid an apartment of dog smell? I am trying to assist someone (with limited means) to prevent being evicted from her apartment because of a dog urine smell. Any advise very much appreciated.
Help! Water Coming In
We have a steady amount of water pouring out from under the baseboard of one side of our basement floor. I checked the neighbor’s basement and it doesn’t appear to be coming form there. Obviously it is raining terribly but I don’t even know who to call…a plumber? It is not clear it is a pipe. There is no space in between my house and the neighbors. Any advise welcome. Also, a plumber who can come on a Saturday night…ugh. Just went to get a wet vac….
Window Screen Resource?
Some prepubescent boys threw a rock through one of my window screens. They are going to pay for it but I need to find a replacement with as little effort on my part as possible. The screens are relatively new but I can’t find a name on them to buy the exact match. Does anyone have an online resource to buy quality screens? Thanks!
Recessed Lighting Advice
We currently have two overhead hanging fixtures in our kitchen which I very much like but they do not provide enough good/quality light. I want to add recessed lighting and have spoken with two electricians who both came highly recommended. Unfortunately they have given conflicting advise. One recommended adding high hats by removing most of the ceiling and attaching them directly to the existing wiring ( I think he called it new renovation) and the other said it was fine–and just as good–to just cut holes in the existing ceiling and add the high caps by dragging wires, etc.. Not sure which way to go. I don’t know anything about electrical stuff (obviously) so any advise is very welcome and appreciated.
leak mystery…please help!!
We have an extension on the 1st floor of our 3 story house. Above the extension, is a deck. For 3 years now, we have been struggling to figure out the source of a leak into the rooms in the extension. In the past, the leak seemed worse when slush sat on the deck. We have redone the rubber roof on the deck, patched and sealed the perimeters of the deck, siliconed the limestone parapet walls of the deck, installed a drain and it is STILL LEAKING!! Most recently, during heavy rains, I have noticed that a lot of rain water flows over the side of our house (from the roof) rather than going down the leader(sp?) pipe. The leader is not clogged–it seems to be a problem with the pitch on the roof. So, during heavy rain the water cascades down the brick facade, flush against the house, and onto the deck. Is it possible that the water is leeching into the building this way and causing the leak in the room below? What is even more perplexing to me is that in the last day and a half, there has been more leaking–even though it hasn’t rained since last weekend. Could it be that water is trapped in the walls for almost a week before coming out? I plan to fix the problem so the water stops coming over the side of the roof but I fear it is not going to end our leak. Anyone have any advise to help–or know an expert who can help? We have tried so many things and while I am hoping the roof drainage problem will end our angst–I have my doubts. All suggestions welcome, I’m desperate. thanks!!
