Recycling an Old Mattress?

I have a 10 year old queen size mattress. Its clean because I kept a water proof mattress cover on it from day one, no bed bugs an actually not in that bad of shape. But we had to get a new one for hubby’s bad back.

Does anyone in Brooklyn take these for recycling or does anyone want it?

I’m in Bay Ridge.

Ideas welcome.

Landscaping help for front yards

We have a little bit of a front lawn in the front of our brick limestone building. We need to completely landscape it. Are there any resources out there that can provide us with photos or ideas? We’d like to do this ourselves since it is not huge but it is big enough that we could do something nice with it.

Thanks.

Green Church site to become a school

Exclusive! Green Church to become a school
By Ben Muessig
The Brooklyn Paper

The city is moving towards buying the land that was once home to

Bay Ridge’s beloved, but now-demolished, “Green Church” for a new school, The Brooklyn Paper has learned.

The School Construction Authority is planning to purchase the former site of the emerald-hued Bay Ridge United Methodist Church to construct a kindergarten- through eighth-grade school that could seat between 600 and 700 students, according to Dena Libner, a spokeswoman for Councilman Vince Gentile (D–Bay Ridge).

Representatives from the schools agency declined to “discuss ongoing real-estate” negotiations

Bay Ridge Farmers Market to start this Saturday

Here is the info for the Bay Ridgers who wanted to know. The Green Market will start this Saturday, Oct 4th at the old Key Food Parking lot on 3rd ave and 94th st. It will start at 8:00am and go until 5:00pm There will be produce, meat and fish.

Someone asked before from another nabe how to get a Green Market in their nabe and I think if enough people went to the Comminity board and requested, the would contact the Green Market people to see if they would be interested in having one. Plus I think many people from Bay Ridge contacted the Green Market to express interest and that’s how it came to be.

Bay Ridge gets its Green Market!

We just got an email from Vincinte Gentile’s office saying that a Press Conference will be held at the old Key Food Parking Lot on Monday 2pm to announce the arrival of the Farmers Market. My guess is that’s where it will be held every Satruday.
