Backyard Maple Failing To Thrive

Late last September I planted a red Maple tree in our backyard. I was diligent about watering it (not over-watering) and gave it a blanket of mulch. It appears to have lived through the Winter, but it isn’t growing nor blossoming. I know the spot I chose for it is acceptable as it is about 8 feet from where a Silver Maple lived for over 80 years. It’s still alive; when I scratched at the bark at the base of the tree it shows bright green. Does anyone have any advice for me?

Antique Cherry Mantle For Sale

Antique cherry wood mantle/surround for sale. I believe it’s cherry but am not 100% certtain, In any case it’s a warm, tightly grained wood. I stripped 5 layers of paint from it several years ago only to find that it was one too many species of wood in our room. As a fix I painted it with 1 thin layer of black satin-finish latex paint. Would be easy to strip and refinish.
Has some scratches but nothing major and is still a beautiful piece.
52 high, 9.5 deep with a 10.5 top, 60.5 wide.
email me with questions or to see more pictures.

Flooring Showrooms

We’re planning to replace our wood floors sometime this Spring. We want to do solid wood over a ply subfloor; no engineered wood. Does anyone know of any good sources for wood flooring and preferably a source that has a showroom where we can see samples?
Thanks

I’ve posted this twice already and can’t seem to get a committed party to take it away. Maybe I’m out of my tree, but i consider this a ‘can’t miss’ kinda deal. Let me break it down for you:

Vintage Enamel Stove- Amended

Forgot to mention that one of the handles is missing as seen in the picture. Also, I misspelled “vintage” in the title and I’m not the type to ignore that sort of error.

HardiPanel Durability Question

I recently was presented with a photo from an interiors mag in which the homeowner glued smooth colored hardipanel (fiber cement panel) to a plywood subfloor. It seems like a good idea for a number of reasons, especially when compared to the price of hardwood or tile.
I am not that familiar with the product, however. The extent of my experience with fiber-cement is with clapboard and I wonder how these panels would survive as flooring. Anyone have first-hand experience with them that might advise?
